While this product has been heat treated, we strongly advise washing and either baking or boiling it before use. There's always a possibility of hitchhikers, such as ants or spiders, coming in on wood. Baking at 125-200 degrees Fahrenheit for 35-45 minutes will effectively eliminate any potential critters.
Do I need to clean or disinfect before use?
Although it's heat-treated cork, it's highly recommended to clean and/or sanitize it to eliminate any potential "hitchhikers" (pests) or contaminants.
Does it have a strong smell?
No, cork tube generally does not have a strong smell, especially ours has been aired out so it's great to use right away!
